July 2024 Newsletter: Multi-factor Authentication
As we wrap up the second quarter of 2024, we are excited to announce a few product enhancements and updates that will continue streamlining your workflow. A huge thank you to everyone who provided feedback and ideas for improvements! We want to continue to receive your feedback and ideas on how we can make Workzone a great platform for driving your work forward.
What's New
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) (Enterprise Tier) adds an extra security layer to Workzone's login process. Users can configure an additional authentication method using an authenticator app, an email address not linked to their Workzone user account or both.
- Custom text in Request confirmation emails — A new setting in ‘Requests - Other Settings’ allows you to enter custom language that will appear at the top of request confirmation emails. This can be useful in setting clear expectations with your requesters regarding the timeline or next steps. (Great idea, Dora!)
- Filter work budgets in the Hours by Responsible report —There is a new "Also Filter Budget" checkbox next to the "Date of Work" filter, which allows you to filter the budget/work values to match the timeframe of your filtered time entries. (Thanks for the suggestion, Jenny!)
- Approvals Dashboard updates — New "Create Date" and “Days Open” columns allow you to see when a document approval was initially created and how long it took to receive responses from the approvers. (Great suggestion, Niall and Trish!)
- Usage Summary report update — A new "Inactive since" filter now shows which of your users have spent extended time away from Workzone. This can help increase platform adoption. (Thanks for the feedback, Andrea!)
- Task List Excel export update — That’s right, your project tags will now be included in exports of your projects and tasks from the Projects module. (Great idea, Gloria!)
- Project, task notes, and descriptions will again appear in PDF exports of the Task List—we fixed this bug!
What We're Working On / Exploring Now
We have a few exciting upcoming product releases to look out for in the next quarter or two!
- Revenue Recognition report (Enterprise Tier) (mid-July) — A new report combining expense and labor data with project budgets to display how closely your projects meet their financial goals.
- Workzone notifications in Microsoft Teams (Enterprise Tier) (early September) — We’re starting with a handful of highly-requested notifications to begin pushing key updates to you directly in MS Teams.
- Out-of-office designation and scheduling conflict report (late October) — We plan to create a new user setting to identify when a user will be out of the office. This will be reflected in existing project schedules in a report that highlights scheduling conflicts.
A Pro Tip from Workzone Customer Success
How to efficiently filter and update tasks for a specific project:
Highlighting a Few of Workzone's Partners
June offered us an excellent opportunity to meet with a few Workzone customers in New Jersey and Texas, where two of our leadership members participated in Higher Ed summits.
- NJCCC Summit: A summit of New Jersey's Community Colleges and partners focused on building pathways for students with the shared goals of increasing equity and economic prosperity. The New Jersey Council of County Colleges (NJCCC) utilizes Workzone to collaborate across colleges and community partners. The Workforce Development Team at Atlantic Cape Community College has also begun using Workzone to manage their programs.
- TACCM conference: Workzone also participated in the Texas Association of Community College Marketers (TACCM) conference where we presented alongside Meridith McLarty of Dallas College to share how they use data to uncover insights that led to successful outcomes on resource staffing, improved stakeholder partnerships, and support more robust executive leadership advocacy.
