2024 Visual Update

In keeping with a consistent focus on making our system as easy and simple to use as possible, this year we’re making some visual changes to modernize and lighten the look of various aspects of Workzone.

Here’s a look at what you can expect:

Navigation Bar

Over time, most of our customer base has grown to appreciate more vertical space when viewing pages with a lot of information. With this in mind, we're updating the placement of the navigation bar to better reflect this. You'll now see a slimmer horizontal row up top and a new left bar for accessing modules such as Projects, Documents, and others.

Here’s a look at the old layout, compared to the new (with every available module enabled):

Task List

Workzone’s main Task List view is a wealth of information, and with careful consideration of the importance of viewing this data, we’ve made a few color and styling updates, particularly with regards to the separating of content into distinct workspace sections in the main table.

Here’s a comparison of the old look and the new:

NOTE: Your Workzone site's fields/columns displayed may be different than those depicted above.

Also, you can still select between a more condensed view (Compact) and a more spaced out view (Comfortable) between rows in the Display density options found under the three vertical dots ︙ button when in the Projects module.

Overlays (Add Project, Request Approval, etc.)

Overlays like the one for creating a new project have also gotten a new “paint job”, as you can see here:

To-Do List

Much like the main Task List described above, the To-Do List report is also heavily relied on by many for it’s focus and collective view of information, and it’s gotten some new visual changes as well:

Avatars

Profile avatars (optionally enabled under the top right profile > My Settings > User avatar) are another great addition for those that prefer visuals instead of names:

There are also new icons for marking complete:

…and the list goes on...

Everything mentioned above is not an exhaustive list, but rather some of the main highlights we think will be a bit more noticeable at first sight. There are a variety of other areas that have been touched as well.

To summarize, one of the biggest changes is additional negative space, which is a powerful design approach that not only improves the overall aesthetics of a page but also contributes to functionality, readability, and the effective communication of information. We hope these new styling changes make Workzone even more visually appealing as we continue to make the system look and function even better.
